People that require the very best possible vision. Some examples are pilots, professional athletes, and microsurgeons. |
People who like to have the latest form of treatment. Just like with computers, the field of vision correction is advancing all the time. Wavefront is the present and future. Some people like to have the most current system or the fastest speed processor in their computer. So too, many people are willing to pay the premium to have the most up to date, advanced treatment. |
People with lots of aberrations. There are individuals who have much more natural minor aberration. These patients may benefit from the fully customizable wavefront laser vision correction. |
People with higher prescriptions who wish to have LASIK. Laser vision corrections remove small amounts of cornea. Experience has shown us that we should not remove too much of the cornea. Wavefront Laser treatments are completely customizable for each individual, and can be adjusted to reduce the amount of tissue that must be removed. This is not only safer, but may reserve enough tissue that if a touch up is needed, it too can be performed. In addition, larger laser treatments cause a greater change in the optical power of the eye. Wavefront Laser treatments are designed to smooth out the area between the treated part and the un-treated part of the cornea. This usually leads to better vision. |
People with large pupils (the dark black opening in the center of the eye) that become very large under darkened conditions. No current laser is able to treat the entire cornea. In fact, only the central part of the cornea is removed during any laser vision procedure such as PRK or LASIK. Generally, the area treated covers the whole pupil. In the dark, our pupils get larger. Under these conditions, one may be looking through the central, lasered part of the cornea. As well, some light may be entering through the edge of the cornea that has not been lasered. This may lead to some blurring that may be more obvious in the dark. |
People who have undergone laser vision correction previously, and are having difficulties. The older lasers, some ten years ago, treated much smaller areas on the cornea. A very small number of patients experienced problems due to these small zones of treatment. Wavefront laser has the ability to correct these and other problems. |
